The Love, Mom series is a collection of workbooks detailing my experiences and insights into parenthood. They contain practical advice and common-sense contemplations. Every parenting experience is different, so what worked for me might not work for you and your family. That’s okay. In the end, all any of us can do is the best we can.
Lessons Learned from a “Mom in the Trenches” on Navigating a Diagnosis, IFSPs, IEPs, & 504 Plans, outlines my journey navigating my son’s diagnosis. It was such a challenging and lonely experience. I tried so hard to find others going through a similar experience and came up empty each time. My hope is that this interactive workbook and journal will help you not feel so alone if you, too, are walking this path. With that said, my experience won’t be the same as yours, but I do feel there are some commonalities on this journey.
Future Workbook Offerings
My current work in progress for the Love, Mom series is a workbook with anecdotes from my parenting, how it worked, and why. From the outside, our household appeared to be very typical, almost the American dream. Viewed from our day-to-day antics, I don’t think it was typical at all. For instance, when my daughter graduated high school, I took out a full-page in the yearbook with a list of all the childhood “events” for which she might need therapy in the future. Some found it appalling, others found it brilliant. Once you’ve read that chapter, feel free to let me know which side you’re on.
Another Love, Mom book that’s still in its infancy, is a workbook for adolescents to bridge the gap between high school and “the real world.” This is practical advice that not every parent knows to pass along to their children. Very much common-sense with tips on how to get your first job and being successful in that job.
I’m so excited to get these workbooks up and running, but meanwhile, I still have some personal development books also in the works for the {Re}Discover You series, so stay tuned….
